A lot has been said about the reasons why people shouldn’t get married young, but I’m here to explain why it might be one
It’s easy to overcomplicate the topic of purpose when we live our lives with so much noise, but God’s will shows us how to
Welcome to Ekteleo.com – A blog for Christian men seeking purpose in a world that desperately needs more purposeful men.
As a young Christian man growing up in today’s world, I am constantly in conversation with other guys my age who openly struggle with their identity, worth, and purpose.
On more than one occasion with friends, coworkers, and even strangers, I’ve heard things like:
“I thought I was meant for more.”
“I had so many dreams when I was younger, but now I feel like my adult life is so boring.”
…and most commonly:
“I want to live out my life with a purpose, but I don’t know how.”
After years of looking for approval and purpose in what I thought success should look like, I realized that true joy, purpose, and fulfillment could only come from God and his will for my life.
I started this blog for Christian men because as I looked around, I realized that so many men I knew were just like me – looking for fulfillment, approval, and truth in a world that always claims it can help us find the identity we crave, but that ultimately proves hollow and meaningless when we try and fit its mold.
I believe that it’s careful consideration of what matters most in life and devotion to a purpose higher than yourself that brings true meaning and fulfillment as a man.
Ekteleo.com’s mission is to provide knowledge, resources, and community to help Christian men find fulfillment in God’s design for their lives by increasing their knowledge of the Biblical principles that guide faith, finances, relationships, career success, and everything in between.
Generation Z is the most depressed generation by a long shot (We’re twice as likely as Americans over 25 to battle depression and feelings of hopelessness) and research on Generation Z values has indicated that our most defining characteristic is our search for truth.
If anecdotal life experiences and recent research are trustworthy indicators, however, we are apparently not very good at finding that truth.
Ekteleo.com (pronounced ek-tel-eh’-o) – derives its namesake from a Greek word used in the New Testament that roughly translates to “finish well” – was founded on the belief in and desire for finding truth, seeking meaning, and living life to the fullest by knowing where you want to go and having a plan to get there.
The truth is this: maybe none of us really know what we’re doing (or what we want in life), and it’s about time someone said it out loud.
The hope for all of us wanderers is the same as it always has been – there is Truth (with a capital T) in the form of a savior who redeems us, gives us purpose, and shows us the way to living a fulfilling life on Earth with an eye toward eternity.
If you’re wondering: No, the Bible doesn’t really promise success in all areas of life on Earth just because we follow Biblical standards of living. In fact, Jesus promises believers that we will fall pretty flat on our faces many many times in our lives.
It’s only through humility and full reliance on Christ that true men after God’s own heart will be raised up in a new generation.
That’s why there’s space for a blog for Christian men who aren’t perfect, but have a desire to learn and grow in faith from a savior who was and is and is to come.
On this platform, we’re going on a journey together to see just how fulfilling a life well-lived (a life with Biblical purpose) can be.
… for which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, “This man began to build and was not able to finish.”
